Hot weather, first food, and flying babies!

It's been HOTT! Yes, that is hot with two T's! Phew, wishin' we had AC. It is much better today though. This weekend we fired up our little bbq and had yummy Dave-burgers, we lounged outside, we lounged inside, and basically survived the mini Washington heat wave. Im telling you, we melt in WA.
This is what greeted me on Saturday morning. Oh ya, and it was 5am. But seriously, look at that face! How cute. Now go back to sleep.

Darby doing her best outside lounging

Eating Waddles

'What was that?' (In response to a loud bird)

Hmmmmm there must be something fun in here....

Ah ha! Found it!

Now she is telling me all about it

Ok so mommy was a little camera happy outside....
Since it was fan-in-the-window hot, we had fun flying...

Woooo!

Some serious lounging with Daddy

And some serious conversations with Daddy

And for the finale....Darby's first taste of rice cereal!!! She is growing up so fast! She mainly pushed it all out with her tongue, but she's learning!

Whew, ya for marathon posts!

Summer Summer Summertime

Good day sunshine! How beautiful it is around here when the sun finally pops out. We heart the Northwest! Look at this pretty sight. It was our view from the ferry. Can you see Mt. Rainier??

And what do we do when the sun comes out? We super white northwesterners venture outside!

And our favorite California relavites send us fun hats! Everyone had fun trying it on! Thanks Nana and Papa!

We also celebrate the arrival of summer here in the Crompton house with balloons! Leftover graduation balloons that is...

And to beat the heat, us girls have to change up our wardrobes a bit. How about a nice breezy new skirt?

And then to fully enjoy summertime we put our new hat and skirt to the test out in the sunshine :)

This is after she stole my sunglasses! No Im serious, she took them off my face and tried to eat them!

Checking out her manicure?? Well, I did clip her fingernails today, close enough.

Then the mailman came over and made Darby smile! It was so cute. Fun in the sun (shade).

He's baaaaaaaaaack

Look at our little graduate! Awww. Of course we had to get the typical embarrassing grad pic. He was a a good sport.
*Insert graduation march song here*
So many reasons to celebrate! This weekend was graduation weekend for Dave. He officially got hooded ;)
Festivities began on Saturday with a night of fun and wine at the Chateau St Michelle Winery. His MBA program booked the whole place so we got a private tour and dinner. Did I mention lots of wine? It was yummy! Than Sunday we took a walk down memory lane and went to UW's Hec Ed Pavilion for his graduation ceremony. Everyone came over to our place afterwards and hopefully had a good time! True to our word we tortured Dave with plenty of picture-taking; it's his favorite pastime. So now we have him back! Back from the world of books, learning, and being gone all the time, to the world of work, diapers, and honey-do-lists! Mwuahaha!
This is when we were leaving for the winery.

Here's Dave running to the graduation ceremony when we thought we were late....but we weren't. Not even close.

Hooded!

Dave's Fam

Oh and it was Father's Day, too! So here is a picture of all the Daddies

Our little family

My mom getting some serious baby time

Then I stole her back ;)

Than we said goodbye....so bye for now! (Sorry for the ridiculously long post, we are just a little excited about Dave being done!)

'If it's Sunday, it's Meet The Press'

Tim Russert passed away today. Now, these things happen and I usually think it's sad and then move on. And that will undoubtedly happen with this instance as well. But this passing will linger for awhile in my heart. I have to say his passing is such a tragedy. He was only 58. His son just graduated from Boston College this Spring. He was one of the only newsmen I felt was truly trustworthy. And this will be the most exciting presidential election in many years. Tim Russert should be here to witness it. He was excited to be here to witness it.
I watch Tim Russert every Sunday on Meet The Press (Im a dork, I know) and now it will never be the same. Im sad to see him go. I wish he didn't. I wish he could have at least lived to see the first black president be elected. He would have liked to live to see that happen, even if only to discuss it on Meet The Press.
And remember, if it's Sunday, it's Meet The Press.

Shots (immunizations) heard 'round the world....well around the doctor's office at least

Poor little Darby had to get her 4 month shots on Monday. It was a sad, sad scene. At first she was so happy; laughing and smiling at everyone, being so personable. And then, things took a turn for the worst. That evil nurse lady stuck her 4 times, twice in each leg, and Darby lost it! And the whole time, Darby was looking at ME and screaming! She thought it was me causing her horrible torture and pain. I should have hid in the corner while the torture took place, and then ran to the rescue when it was all over. I'll have to remember that for next time. Because it may have been my imagination, but I think Darby kept giving me dirty looks the rest of the day! Can babies hold grudges? Anyway, I have never heard her scream and cry so loudly. The whole office must have thought we were in a torture chamber. Poor baby!!
Onto other fun stories...
Our condo building is getting a new roof, and of course we are the top unit! Oh joy! They are SO loud! They started this morning at 7:30! (That should be illegal). Darby was still sleeping, but not for long. And when I went in to get her, I was welcomed by a very wet baby whose diaper apparently could not hold in all her peepee! This was her first pee-out. So it was a fun morning of washing a pee baby, laundering peepee sheets, and listening to the soothing sounds of the roofers. Hey, at least we have our health! (But maybe not our sanity...)

Party party!! (with no proof....)

Today was Theresa's 19th and Tom's 64th birthday party! We went to Tom and Sue's for dinner. Now this is when I say D'oh! and smack my forehead because we didn't bring our camera!! So no pictures to show the fun times. It's too bad, too, because Darby was wearing her cute little Levi's! Since I refuse to make a post with no pictures, here are some totally random photos of the birthday peops!
Here is a stolen pic of my pretty sis-in-law Theresa from her Facebook:

And here is my father-in-law Tom:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOM AND THERESA!!
Another reason for a party is that Dave is officially done with school as of today! He had his last final today (I know, Sunday is a weird day for a final!) and he is done editing his papers that are due tomorrow....he is officially done! He gets to wear his very important looking 'hood' at graduation. Of course I will add pictures of him after graduation next week! Im sure Dave will be so happy, muahaha!
This morning I caught a sweet moment between Dave and Darby! He is reading 'What's Wrong Little Pookie?' Anyone heard of it? It's too cute! That silly little Pookie.

And I thought I would add the youngest Obama supporter, just for fun!

4 months and counting!

Today Darby is 4 months old! I can't believe 4 months ago today we were in the hospital, being all panicky because Darby was in Pediatrics getting antibiotics! So many things have changed. It seems like years ago...it's so weird!
We just lazed around today, but I wanted to show what a big girl she is turning into already! She rides in her stroller sitting up now! Her car seat thing is getting too small for her already. This picture is from one of the days leading up to the apparent monsoon season that is going on right now. Short post, that's it. Happy weekend!

Over the river and through the woods...

To grandmother's house we go! Yesterday we took a quick trip to visit the old folks! The last time we saw them it was a cry fest for Darby, so I was hoping for happiness, and we were so excited to see a smiling baby face this time! It was good times had by all. Here is some proof of the happy baby.

Flying with grandma is always a highlight!

And playing peek-a-boo over the couch was exciting...

Her favorite thing to do is bouncing around with grandpa and checking out great grandma's funky, retro, and dont forget tasty, necklaces! Yes, there was tasting.

And then I can't leave out the hilarious session of crazy-laughing Darby has started doing recently. It's like laughter on the verge of hysterical crying...

Thanks for fun times and yummy food...oh yes, and obsessive MSNBC and CNN Obama stalking. WOOHOO OBAMA!
