Attempts at Raising a Water Baby

I officially stink at blogging!! I don't know what happened....but apparently I completely forgot I had a blog or something?!

We've been frequenting the beach and getting in some kiddie-pool action to get our little Darby accustomed to the water! She is sooo hilarious. I don't know where she got it, but for every sand morsel or blade of grass there is a high pitched squeal to accompany it. Time for Darby to get over herself! ;)

'California....knows how to partayyyy'

Sunshine, beaches, Disneyland....well of course Im talking about California! We took a fun little trip down to the golden state for the weekend to visit some fam. On our mini adventure we found out a few things...
Darby likes looking at planes more than flying on them.

She loves the freedom of running around Disneyland as opposed to the tortureous restraint of the stroller.

We found out the lines for the 'kiddie rides' took longer than the 'grown-up' types which resulted in too much extra time for the paparazzi frenzy, also known as my Dad!

We found out Darby hearts A Small World, but not Pirates of the Caribbean.

And apparently I loved the Merry Go Round more than anyone.

We found out that Daddy has been replaced as Darby's favorite person by cousin Brooke!

One 'bummer-discovery,' if you will, was that Darby is super freaked out at the sight/feel/smell, etc, etc, of sand! I guess we will be frequenting the local beaches to break this ridiculous fear over the summer.

After the horror caused by Mommy with the sand and the ocean and whatnot, she demanded to be returned safely to the arms of her Daddy.

After said horror, sometimes we all just need a good cuddle and snuggle in bed to calm our nerves.

But most of all we remembered how much we heart CA and had such a stellar time with the fam.

'Stridin' Rite' ....so to speak

We finally made the official pilgrimage to the big girl shoe store. When I worked at the Boeing Family Center, all I heard from the parents was how wooonnnderfulll Stride Rite is, so I figured it was time to be a true grown up and try the shoe store all the other hip moms go to. Little did I know it would be a zoo of sorts...minus the animals of course. But including all the billions of babies. Darby got her feet measured and she is a...wait for it....a 5 1/2 wide! The abusive parents that we are, we were squishing her humongous feet into size 4 shoes. And yes, I think that is CPS calling. Here is what we ended up with :

Darby doesn't seem too sure about what I affectionately call her 'Peggy Hill feet'

But after some face down wipe outs she got the hang of them and decided to celebrate with her one 3 month old birthday balloon that inexplicably still has helium AND is still floating around our house...??!?

Also Darby has started her new famous 'kinda evil yet kinda cute yet kinda creepy' stare down which only results in Mommy cracking up...

But certainly not to be outdone by her amazing monkey face shirtless dance moves

Seriously, this kid is just too much fun!
