Adventures in Rolling!

Darby has finally conquered fully rolling over all by her little self! She is a trooper. She started out on the quilt in the middle of her nursery and landed over by the rocking chair. Good exercise!

My new read

I have heard SO MUCH about the Twilight series books that I am finally joining the huge mob of fanatics and reading it! I have read that if you liked Harry Potter you will love these books. And let me tell you, I'm a little bit in love with HP. So I'm excited! I have really been wanting and needing to read a good book. Before I had Darby I was averaging a book every week/week and a half! Hopefully I will have time to finish it in the next century.

Today Darby and I went for a walk at the Alderwood Mall. And I emphasize 'a walk,' since we are sticking to the all important budget nowadays we could not splurge on anything! And look what was going on...

Darn it all! Also having sales : Pottery Barn, Gap, Ann Taylor Loft, and many others!

We also discovered how we will never be able to shop here :

We strolled in and the outfits were so cute!! Then we saw the pricetag on a cute little shirt and it was $98. What?! No, not a whole outfit (which would still be ridiculous), just a SHIRT! Which she would grow out of in a few weeks! Puhleez people. Just wrong! It was such a cute shirt, too.

Gimme a Bite!

This weekend Dave, Darby and I went to the Bite of Seattle. We had a really good time! Darby did awesome and even helped sample the food ;)
The list of food we indulged in:
-Halibut Fish Taco
-Chicken Gyro
-BBQ Pork Sandwich
-Thai Iced Tea
-Homemade Lemonade
-Flippin HUGE strawberry shortcake
-Funnel Cake
-Chocolate Ice Cream in a waffle cone
Yes, we are fatter today. Actually, they have smaller portions so you can try lots of yummy treats! (So I keep telling myself....)
Darby loved the strawberry shortcake!

Daddy liked it, too!

Daddy and Darby

Darby got a small taste of powdered sugar as well! Mostly just got on her face though...

Today we had a fun family picnic on the Edmonds waterfront. I could not believe the amount of seaweed!! I have lived in Washington my whole life and have been to WA beaches a million times, and I have never seen as much nasty seaweed as I did today! The tide was out when we got there, but it slowly came back in. Anyway here are some pics from the fun little picnic (away from the stinky seaweed!)
**Quick side note, this picture was taken by a guy walking by who offered to take our picture. We thought that was so nice, and then he decided to fill us in on his personal life by saying 'I just like to see families together, I have two daughters and my wife left us 10 days after our second daughter was born, so I just like seeing whole families staying together' It's so interesting how people always feel inclined to tell us their personal life stories...thanks for taking our pic though!**

Sporting the sunglasses

Watch out for the seaweed!

Travel Itch

We are under the travel spell! It is coming up on a year (in September) since we went to France/South Africa and we have that travel itch! Unfortunately we can't scratch it anytime soon. We lack the funds for any worldly excursions. Looks like we will be sticking around good old WA for the time being and dreaming of places like this....

Oy Vay! I cannot WAIT to show Darby this awesome little world! I'll keep dreamin' for now...

The babblings of a baby

I had to post these. Please excuse the annoying voice of the camera operator ;) Also, Im not trying to force her to say mama, it just happens to be what she babbles now! I swear! :)

A day in the life

A typical day in DarbyLand.
*Price of admission - Lunch and shopping! Come on over!*

Wake up and eat, then have some play time.

If it's a bath day, we get clean with strategically placed washcloth.

Next, get dressed in cute blue dress.

Try to roll off the changing table or roll away from mommy (this is an every day occurrence)

The all important tummy time.

The very fun bumbo chair time.

And the best of all, looking cute and sweet :)

After all the fun, much needed crash time on the couch.

Fireworks, Fun and Fresh air

Can you believe it's already fireworks time?? I was a little sad since I wasn't going to be seeing my side of the fam this year, but we ended up having a great little 4th. And we discovered we have a 5 month old who happens to love loud, scary fireworks?! Is this normal? Did I frequent too many Dave Matthews concerts and other loud outings whilst pregnant with her? I guess only time will tell...
So onto the 4th fun. There was BBQ, there was potato salad, there was watermelon and pie, and there was the longest game of croquet I have ever witnessed. Due to the unfortunate hilliness of the backyard, it turned out to be a very difficult round. But there was no lack of laughs! Here is Theresa taking a quick break for a photo op.

Darby must not have found the croquet game too exciting because she fell asleep, but woke up in time for the fireworks. Apparently she loves fireworks. None of us were expecting this of course. But she surprises us everyday!

Thanks for such a fun 4th of July my Crompton peops!
We are all so blessed to hang out in this pretty cool country. I was feeling the pride :)

Now onto today. This is how we felt about Grandma coming to visit. I think it conveys our happiness quite well.

We tried out a cute little park near my house. Had some mighty tasty ham sandwiches and cheez-its. Also, I spilled root beer all over the stroller. Sweet! Always graceful.

Playing continued at my house even after spilt root beer ;)

Thanks for visiting us Grandma! We always have fun with you!
